Jutsu to be trained:

Arumi draped her cloak over a rock, looking out over the training field. She had been putting this off for too long. She'd been putting a lot of work into her kekkei genkai, but she'd been neglecting her element. She knew it was a bad idea. It made her too overspecialized, left her at a disadvantage at range. But on the other hands, elemental ninjutsu was hard.

Arumi tried calling on the wind, focusing her chakra. She could feel it resisting her pull, like it was trying to escape. That always happened. She never admitted it, but the monster girl knew her elemental jutsus were weaker than they should be. Something was holding them back. It was like this for all Hirano, the elements tried to resist them. Arumi steeled herself, focusing. That damn wind wouldn't escape her this time. It could fight all it wanted, but she would force it to obey.


She drew a deep breath, trying to gather the wind chakra in her lungs. Taking in as much air as she could, she held it for a moment while she worked the chakra into it. It was slow going at first. The chakra was taking a while to mix in, and she could taste the air turning foul as she did. This wasn't something those heathen clans had to deal with. It was the price they paid for their devotion, a test of their strength. Finally, when she was starting to turn purple, Arumi let out the blast of air.


It was pretty disappointing. The burst of wind kicked up some dust, but not much else. She had a lot of work yet before it was anywhere near acceptable. Arumi groaned, focusing again. She didn't hold it in quite so long this time. It was a little hasty, but nearly asphyxiating herself had been pretty distracting, which probably wasn't good for the jutsu's integrity. She cut loose again, firing off a slightly less disappointing blast. This one kicked up a bit more dust! That's progress!


For her third try, Arumi decided to just go wild. Screw all that delicate fiddling with chakra, she could just dump a bunch into the air and fire it off before she even started to tint blue! Taking a deep breath, she put her plan into motion. This was more like what she had hoped for. She took another breath, taking a second longer to put the finishing touches on this time. This one was perfect. Well, as perfect as a Hirano genin could expect. It was pretty sub-par to be honest, but it was about the level she could manage. The air was filled with the smell of exhaust, but it was worth it. She had it down.


As one final test, Arumi turned towards her cloak. Focusing her wind chakra, she huffed and she puffed and she blasted the cloak off its stone. She grinned widely, watching it fly. Right about then, she realized that she probably needed that cloak, and it was going pretty far. Arumi gave chase, trying to catch the runaway garment.
